Men's Fencing Has Success to Start Season at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Wayne State University men's fencing program opened the season at the Ohio State Invitational on Sunday before competing in the Ohio State Duals on Sunday.  Day two featured team competition and the Warriors went 0-5 against Indiana (15-12), Clemson (15-12), Ohio State (22-5), Purdue (15-12 and Cleveland State (18-9).

MEN'S EPEE
On day one, Ramadan Dinkins (Chicago, Ill. / GCE Lab School) reached the round of 8 after going 7-2, finishing in sixth place.  Ahmed Elsayed (Tanta, Gharbia, Egypt) placed 19th with a 4-2 record.

Dinkins recorded a 12-3 record on day two, while Elsayed finished 13-2 during the team results.

MEN'S FOIL
Quinlyn Morgan (Olathe, Kan. / Homeschooled / Olathe East) started his season by winning two and dropping five of his bouts.  Jacob Pochmara (Waterford Twp., Mich. / Clarkston) went 3-3 on day one.

Morgan tallied a 14-1 record on day two, while Pochmara finished 11-4.

MEN'S SABRE
WSU did not send any sabre student-athletes to OSU.

UP NEXT
The men are scheduled to return to the strip on Nov. 21 for the Danosi Open at the Mort Harris Recreation & Fitness Center
