Grant Haefner Through 36 Holes at NCAA Super Regional

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Redshirt senior Grant Haefner (Berkley, Mich. / Bloomfield Hills) continued to represented the Wayne State University men's golf program at the NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional on Friday. He followed his 76 yesterday with a 74 today to total a 150 and is tied-for-48th after 18 holes. The 54-hole event is being played at Shoal Creek Golf Club (Par 71 / 6,943 Yards).

Due to the reductions to the 2021 NCAA Division II winter and spring championships brackets/field sizes, only eight teams and three individuals were selected from each sport Region (16 teams and six individuals at each Super Regional). The top four teams and the top golfer from each region that is not on a qualifying team advances to the NCAA finals.

INSIDE THE SCORECARD
Haefner started on the back nine for the second straight day and shot a +4 on those nine holes, including two bogeys, a double bogey and six pars. He was -1 on the front nine to finish the round as he collected a birdie on hole #6.

LEADING THE WAY
Central Missouri has the top three golfers as Thomas Henson (134), Ian Barnes (136) and Matt Hoemann (139) are all vying for medalist honors in the field of 86 individuals. It is no surprise that Central Missouri has the low team score of 554 (279, 275) to sit atop the leaderboard after 36 holes.

THIRD CAREER NCAA APPEARANCE
Haefner is playing in the NCAA postseason for the third time in his career, but for the first time as an individual. Haefner is the first Warrior men's golfer to be selected as an individual since Joe Wilson in 2006.

He was in the starting lineup at the NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional in 2018-19 and tied-for-89th with a 236 (75, 80, 81). In 2017-18, he shot a 226 (79, 73, 74) at the NCAA Super Regional to tie-for-71st.
