Men's Fencing Wins First Bout of the Season at Detroit

The Warriors will compete at Notre Dame on Jan 29-30.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's fencing program returned to action for the first time in 2022 and collected its first team victory of the season on Sunday at the Detroit Titans Invitational. The Warriors edged Detroit (12-10) before falling to Michigan State (15-12) and Michigan (17-10).

SABRE RESULTS
Eyad Marouf (Alexandria, Egypt) made his season debut and went 8-0. It is the first time this season that the Green & Gold have won a sabre bout.

FOIL RESULTS
Both Skylar Pitcher (Middleville, Mich. / Thornapple Kellogg) and Quinlyn Morgan (Olathe, Kan. / Homeschooled / Olathe East) finished 7-1 in their matches.

EPEE RESULTS
Ahmed Elsayed (Tanta, Gharbia, Egypt) won all eight of his bouts to improve to 53-12 on the season.

UP NEXT
Wayne State will be back on the strip on Jan. 29-30 at the Notre Dame DeCicco Duals.
