Women's Swimming and Diving Finishes Second At GLIAC Championships

Fox, Koh and Senkus each earn All-GLIAC honors along with the 400 free relay.

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving squad finished in second place after the fourth and final day of the 2022 GLIAC Championships after recording 216 points on Monday.

TEAM STANDINGS
Northern Michigan won the team title with 846.5 points, while Wayne State was second with 801.5 points. Grand Valley State (765) was third and was followed by Saginaw Valley State (436) and Davenport (377).

100 FREE
Senior Julia Brunner (Traverse City, Mich. / St. Francis) finished fourth in 52.17, while freshman Sabine Branford (Plymouth, Mich. / Salem) placed eighth (53.31).

WSU had the top four finishers in the Consolation finals as junior Marina Tarlev (Athens, Greece) placed ninth (52.57), sophomore Isidora Sekaric (Windsor, Ont. / W.F. Herman Academy) finished 10th (52.63), freshman Hailee Waters (Dexter, Mich.) was 11th (52.71), and sophomore Hannah Gurecki (Macomb, Mich. / L'Anse Creuse North) finished 12th (52.93).

200 BACK
Junior Jordan Fox (Melbourne, Australia) improved her "B" cut time to 2:00.04 with her second-place finish. Freshman Evie Dice (Waterford, Mich. / Clarkston) placed eighth (2:07.87).

Junior Maddy Chorley (Burton, Mich. / Davison) finished ninth (2:04.76), while freshman Megan Elmquist (Davison, Mich.) was 10th (2:07.79).

200 BREAST
Graduate student Jia Yi Koh (Subang Jaya, Malaysia) notched another "B" cut time with a third-place finish in 2:16.51. Gurecki placed fifth by clocking in at 2:23.78..

Both junior Abby Warner (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) and senior Ashleigh Allen (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Clarkston) earned points in the Consolation finals after finishing 12th (2:28.103) and 14th (2:31.44), respectively.

1650 FREE
Sophomore Barbara Munoz (Yumbo, Colombia) time (17:50.15) from the early heats of the 1650 timed final earned her sixth place.

Sophomore Megan Sieloff (Grand Blanc, Mich.) also scored in the event with a 14th-place finish in a time of 18:04.68.

ONE-METER DIVING
Sophomore Mikaela Senkus (Macomb, Mich. / Utica Academy for International Studies – Eisenhower) earned All-GLIAC honors with her second-place finish with a score of 433.20.

Junior Marissa Woida (Lincoln Park, Mich. / Wyandotte Roosevelt) posted a score of 384.10 to finish fifth.

400 FREE RELAY
Wayne State's quartet of Munoz, Tarlev, Sekaric and Fox finished in second place with a time of 3:26.69.

TIME TRIAL
The Warriors contingent of Koh, Brunner, Munoz and Fox notched an NCAA "B" cut time of 3:24.61 for the 400 free relay.

UP NEXT
Wayne State may attend a last chance meet to earn additional "B" cut times with NCAA selections being announced on Wednesday, Feb. 23rd.
