CINCINNATI -- The Wayne State University women's outdoor track and field squad participated yesterday and today at the University of Cincinnati's Oliver Nikoloff Invite. Warrior competitors notched 13 all-time top-10 marks in program history.
TEAM STANDINGS
Wayne State finished ninth out of 20 schools with 27 points. The top five teams were all Division 1 (Cincinnati, Miami [Ohio], Dayton, Bowling Green and Western Michigan). Teams finishing sixth through 10th were Findlay, Northern Kentucky, Indianapolis, WSU and Toledo.
STEEPLECHASE
Junior
Thailyia Christensen (Flushing, Mich.) led a trio of Warriors who all posted top-10 all-time WSU marks in the event. Christensen was eighth (11:20.96), while classmate
Katherine Ray (Novi, Mich.) was 10th (11:28.41). Freshman
Robin Bresolin (LaSalle, Ont./ St. Thomas of Villanova) finished 13th (12:01.87). Those times rank fourth, fifth and eighth in the Wayne State annals.

Parys Smith (Keego Harbor, Mich. / West Bloomfield) garnered the 10th-fastest all-time mark at 16.57.

Gordon ran a 2:21.66, which is the seventh-fastest time in school history to lead a trio of Warriors. Sophomore
Emily Esker (Livonia, Mich. / Franklin) crossed the finish line in 2:25.01, while freshman
Kynnedee Cowles (Detroit, Mich. / Renaissance) clocked in at 2:28.50.

Makenzie Wellner (Menominee, Mich.) and sophomore
Abigail Dunn (Northville, Mich.) posted the third (1:05.63) and fourth-fastest (1:05.78) times in school history. They were the best times by a Warrior since 2017. Smith was not far behind finishing in 1:12.96.

Witzgall ran a 26.45 to place 18th.

Reagan Justice (Canton, Mich. / Salem) ran the fastest time by a Warrior since 2015 finishing in 17:12.27. Junior
Charlene Yarema (Romeo, Mich.) posted the eighth-fastest time in school history at 17:43.29, while senior
Chloe Wandell (Muir, Mich. / Ionia) completed the race in 20:32.86.

Wayne State's quartet of Affes, Kutcha, Wellner and Dunn placed fifth in a time of 4:01.48.
LONG JUMP
Junior
Mikayla Williams (St. Charles, Mich.) placed 11th with a mark of 5.18m on her second attempt.
TRIPLE JUMP
Williams finished eighth with her best mark of the day of 11.20m coming on her sixth and final attempt.
Two of the field events (javelin and hammer) were contested on Friday, while the other throws events (discus and shot put) took place on Saturday.
JAVELIN
Senior
Izzy Taylor (Three Rivers, Mich.) and
Teanna McCuaig (Sparta, Mich. / Kent City) both had strong performances in the javelin. Taylor finished fifth at 29.57m, which came on her fifth attempt, while McCuaig's best toss of 24.11m came on her third attempt.
HAMMER
Taylor posted the fourth-best throw in program history at 47.69m on her first attempt. Meanwhile, senior
Kaleigh Flowers (Grand Rapids, Mich. / East Kentwood) recorded a throw of 45.42m on her first attempt, with McCuaig having a best-mark of 32.98m on her third throw.
DISCUS
Freshman
Jasmine Correa (West Olive, Mich. / Holland West Ottawa) led a trio of WSU competitors by placing 20th with a best throw of 36.79m. Flowers finished 24th (33.49m), while sophomore
Kaylee Price (Brownsburg, Ind.) placed 26th (30.48m).
SHOT PUT
Correa led the squad with a toss of 11.41m, with Flowers close behind at 11.31m. Price collected a mark of 11.04m.
