HOLLAND, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team was busy on Friday night for day three of the 2023 GLIAC Championships. The Warriors sent 23 student-athletes into competition, won two events, set a new meet record, finished among the top three in five podiums, and racked up eight NCAA "B" cuts.
The WSU women are up to four GLIAC titles for this week including
Mikaela Senkus in the 1 meter dive and 3 meter dive,
Jordan Fox in the 1000 free and the 800 free relay team (
Isidora Sekaric, Fox,
Barbara Munoz,
Alli Vassilakos). Senkus made it a two-board sweep on Friday while the 800 free relay team broke the GLIAC Championships' record with a time of 7:23.68.
Looking at the team standings with one day to go, Grand Valley State is in first (742.5 points) followed by Wayne State in second (643), Northern Michigan in third (506.5), Davenport in fourth (323), and Saginaw Valley State in fifth (245).
