Women's Swimming and Diving Places Ninth at NCAA Championships, Highest Finish Since 2019

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving program secured a ninth-place showing out of 37 teams on Saturday night at the 2023 NCAA Championships. The top-10 finish marks the Warriors highest since 2019 when they were eighth among 45 squads.

Saturday night, WSU placed four student-athletes in the 1650 free including Alli Vassilakos (Clarkston, Mich. / Clarkston) in second (16:42.11), Jordan Fox (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia / Mentone Grammar) in third (16:44.86), Barbara Munoz (Yumbo, Colombia / Comfandi Yumbo) in 13th (17:04.56), and Megan Sieloff (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Grand Blanc) in 17th (17:08.91).

The top-eight finish meant First Team All-American honors for Vassilakos and Fox while Munoz garnered Honorable Mention All-American distinction.

Wayne State also competed in the 400 free relay with an Honorable Mention All-American nod in 12th place (3:25.83). That quartet consisted of Munoz, Fox, Vassilakos, and Elly Belmore (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / Lakeview).
