LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Wayne State University men's golf team played its second tournament of the spring on Saturday and Sunday placing sixth out of 21 teams (+23, 599, 303-296) at the SVSU Spring Invitational at Kearney Hill Golf Links. Individually, the Warriors were led by
Mat Hawryluk (Chatham, Ont. / Ursuline College Chatham) and
Luke Pelak (Mattawan, Mich. / Mattawan), who were both part of the six-way tie for 25th with a 149.
Hawryluk improved his standing by 39 spots on day two shooting a 70 after his round-one 79 for a five-over 149. L. Pelak's 149 came with a 75 on day one and 74 in round two. Also playing as part of the team for Wayne State were
Garret Day (Chatham, Ont. / Ursuline College Chatham) in a tie for 36th with a seven-over 151 (75-76),
Josh DiCarlo (Amherstburg, Ont. / General Amherst) in a tie for 46th with an eight-over 152 (75-77) and
Max Leppelmeier (Wauseon, Ohio / Pettisville) in a tie for 70th with a 10-over 154 (78-76).
Competing as individuals were
Ian Smith (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth) in a tie for 31st with a six-over 150 (78-72) and
Matt Pelak (Mattawan, Mich. / Mattawan), also part of that tie for 31st with a 74 and 76.
Next up, Wayne State will be at the Findlay Spring Invitational on March 27-28 at Big Blue Golf Club, also in Lexington.
