DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving program equaled a school-record with 20 GLIAC All-Academic recipients. In addition, the Warriors nearly matched the previous all-time mark of 16 All-Academic Excellence honorees, with 15 selections, which tied for the best mark in the conference. The 20 total honorees ranked second in the league. The women's swimming and diving program has had 170 Academic All-GLIAC honorees over the last 11 years, including 85 over the last five seasons.
Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season, and not a freshman or a first-year transfer student.
Named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 were seniors

Fox (Accounting) and Woida (Nursing) garnered their third straight All-Academic Excellence Team recognition. Czyrka (Marketing), Gurecki (Sociology), Malinova (Exercise and Sport Science), Michalski (Psychology), Munoz (Management), Sekaric (Chemistry), Senkus (Civil Engineering), Sieloff (Exercise and Sport Science), and Witt (Environmental Science) notched their second consecutive All-Academic Excellence honor, as well as Cooper (Secondary Education) after transferring from Cleveland State in January of 2021. Plonis (Exercise and Sport Science) elevated to the Excellence Team after receiving All-Academic Team honors a year ago. Branford (Mechanical Engineering) and Dice (Exercise and Sport Science) are recipients in their first season eligible.
Wayne State had five representatives on the All-Academic Team for having a cumulative GPA between 3.0 and 3.49. This group consisted of seniors
Maddy Chorley (Burton, Mich. / Davison),
Marina Tarlev (Athens, Greece) and
Abby Warner (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower), along with sophomores
Megan Elmquist (Davison, Mich.) and
Julia Katulski (Novi, Mich.).
Chorley (Criminal Justice), Tarlev (Mechanical Engineering) and Warner (Marketing) were recognized for the third straight year, while Elmquist (Nursing) and Katulski (Marketing) are recipients in their first season eligible.
