Four Men's Fencers Receive Academic All-GLIAC Honors

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's fencing team had four GLIAC All-Academic honorees.  This is the fourth year the conference recognized student-athletes from non-GLIAC sports.

Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season, and not a freshman or a first-year transfer student.

Earning a spot on the All-Academic Excellence Team (cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5) was sophomore Eyad Marouf (Alexandria, Egypt).  Marouf (Biological Sciences) was honored in his first year eligible.

Named to the All-Academic Team for having a cumulative GPA between 3.0 and 3.49 were redshirt senior Ahmed Elsayed (Tanta, Gharbia, Egypt), along with seniors Quinlyn Morgan (Olathe, Kan. / Homeschooled) and Skylar Pitcher (Middleville, Mich. / Thornapple Kellogg).

This is the third consecutive year that Elsayed (Mechanical Engineering), Morgan (Design), and Pitcher (Construction Management) were honored.
