Men's Golf Remains In Striking Distance Heading Into Final Round

WINONA, Minn. -- The Wayne State University men's golf team remained tied-for-10th after 36 holes at the NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional being held at The Bridges Golf Course.

The Warriors are eight strokes behind both Ashland and Harding who have a two-day total of 584, while WSU shot a 298 on Friday putting its 36-hole score at 592.

Grand Valley State leads with a 563 and is the only squad under par after 36 holes.  Maryville is second (579) and is followed closely by Henderson State and Washburn (582).  Findlay is fifth (583), while the aforementioned Eagles and Bisons are at 584.

Missouri S&T is eighth (586), while Southern Arkansas is ninth (590).  Wayne State is tied with Ferris State (592), three strokes ahead of Central Oklahoma (595).  Central Missouri, Missouri-St. Louis and Southwestern Oklahoma State are all tied-for-13th (596), two strokes ahead of Davenport (598).  Rounding out the 20-team filed are McKendree (601), Northeastern State (602), Missouri Southern State (602) and Bemidji State (604).

Senior Josh DiCarlo (Amherstburg, Ont.) led the Warriors on Friday with a two-under par 69.  He had four birdies, two bogeys and 12 pars.  DiCarlo's 36-hole score of 144 is tied-for-16th.

Redshirt freshman Adam Burghardt (New Baltimore, Mich. / Warren De La Salle) had another solid day with a 73 on four birdies, four bogeys and one double bogey.  His two-day total of 143 is tied-for-ninth.

Junior Mat Hawryluk (Chatham, Ont.) carded a 77 on Friday with one birdie, five bogeys and one double bogey.  His two round score of 152 is tied-for-68th.

Sophomore Max Leppelmeier (Wauseon, Ohio / Pettisville) posted a second round score of 79 with three birdies, five bogeys and three double bogeys.  His 36-hole total of 156 is tied-for-94th.

Redshirt junior Luke Pelak (Mattawan, Mich.) carded an 81 on Friday and is tied-for-90th with a two round score of 155.

UP NEXT
Wayne State will tee off at 11 a.m. Eastern time on Friday and will need to move into the top six to advance to the national championships in Warren, Ohio later this month.
