Men's Golf Season Concludes At NCAA Super Regionals

WINONA, Minn. -- The 2022-23 Wayne State University men's golf season came to a close on Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional being held at The Bridges Golf Course.  The Warriors shot a 294 on Saturday to finish the 54-hole tournament with an 886 (+34) and placed 10th out of 20 schools.  The top six teams advanced to next week's NCAA National Championships in Warren, Ohio.

Team Standings
Grand Valley State took first place with a team score of 857, while Missouri S&T had a strong final day to finish second (875).  The next two teams to advance were Maryville (877) and Washburn (878).  Henderson State (881), Southern Arkansas (881) and Harding (881) finished in a three-way tie for fifth with just two schools advancing to the NCAA Championship finals.

Three of the six schools advancing were ranked in the top 50 nationally this week by Golfstat, which had WSU ranked 60th.

Individuals
Junior Mat Hawryluk (Chatham, Ont.) led Wayne State with a three-under par 68 which included five birdies and one double bogey.  Hawryluk finished with a +7 (220) to tie-for-25th.

Sophomore Max Leppelmeier (Wauseon, Ohio / Pettisville) posted a final round score of 70 with five birdies on the front nine, and four bogeys on the back nine.  Leppelmeier notched a +13 (226) for the tournament to finish tied-for-61st.

Senior Josh DiCarlo (Amherstburg, Ont.) carded a +7 (78) on Saturday.  His final round included one birdie, four bogeys and two double bogeys.  DiCarlo's 54-hole score of 222 was nine-over par and placed him tied-for-33rd.

Redshirt junior Luke Pelak (Mattawan, Mich.) completed the Saturday round with a +7 (78).  His three round total of 233 was +20 as he finished tied-for-93rd.

Redshirt freshman Adam Burghardt (New Baltimore, Mich. / Warren De La Salle) posted a final round score of 81 (+10) to finish tied-for-50th with a 224 (+11).
