Men's Golf Signs Two For 2023-24

DETROIT -- Wayne State University head men's golf coach Mike Horn has announced the signing two newcomers to a National Letter of Intent.  Joining the Green & Gold next month will be Andrew Daily (Brighton, Mich.) and Josh Lahner (Roselle, Ill. / Lake Park).

Andrew Daily, 6-2, 160, Brighton, Mich. / Brighton
High School:
A 2023 graduate of Brighton High School ... was a three-year letterwinner and team captain for the Bulldogs ... helped coach Jimmy Dewling's squad win the Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) championship ... shot a 144 (71, 73) at the 2022 MHSAA Division 1 state championship to tie for second, then tied-for-eighth as a senior with a 147 (73. 74) helping BHS to back-to-back third-place team finishes ... shot 3-under-par 69 to place fourth individually, leading Brighton to a second-place finish at Salem Hills Golf Club in the MHSAA Regional.

Personal:  Full name -- Andrew M. Daily ... born on May 21, 2004, in Royal Oak, Mich. ... son of Jeff and Anne Daily ... has an older brother, John, and an older sister, Sarah ... plans to major in Business.

Coach Mike Horn on Andrew Daily:  "Andrew has had a fantastic summer coming into his freshman year.  That should bode well for his chances to make the lineup.  He has had tons of experience this summer from the Michigan Amateur to the Michigan Open to the GAM Championship.  He's competing against players that are going to college and others that have played in college so he will be ready to take that next step.  I look for his leadership, and his play on the course to be instrumental for the Warriors the next four years."

Josh Lahner, 6-1, 185, Roselle, Ill. / Lake Park
High School:  A 2023 graduate of Lake Park High School ... was a four-year letterwinner for the Lancers ... played for coach Tim Moran ... selected to the All-DuKane Conference squad twice ... qualified three years for sectional, advancing to the state finals once ... was a multiple-year team captain ... won the 2023 MAJGT at Oak Meadows with a one over par 145 (73-72) ... totaled seven birdies and 21 pars in two rounds at The Preserve at Oak Meadows ... took first at the 2022 MAJGT at Ravisloe Country Club with a one over par 141 (70-71) ... finished second at the 2023 U.S. Junior Amateur qualifying with a 69 at ThunderHawk Golf Club in Beach Park, Ill.

Personal:  Full name -- Joshua M. Lahner ... born on October 7, 2004, in Roselle, Ill. ... son of Scott and Nicoletta Lahner ... has an older brother, Jack ... plans to major in Finance ... last name is pronounced LANE-er.

Coach Mike Horn on Josh Lahner:  "Josh is a solid young man all the way around.  I think the college game will suit his strengths.  He is a critical thinker and a hard worker.  Both those things will lead to his success in the lineup and as a leader for our team.  Being in Illinois doesn't let me see him play on a consistent basis, but I know he has the skill set and tools he needs to be successful at this level.  Josh will be successful as a Warrior!!  I know he will not be satisfied with anything but the lineup."

The Wayne State University men's golf program has qualified for the NCAA Super Regionals in 15 of the last 19 years it has been held (no Super Regional in 2020), with an individual qualifying in three additional years.  Head coach Mike Horn will begin his 23rd season at the helm this fall.
