DEARBORN, Mich. -- The Wayne State University men's golf team wrapped up round one of its own Motor City Shakedown on Monday at TPC Michigan. The Warriors' "A" team is tied-for-second among the nine-team field while the "B" group sits in eighth place. Individually, WSU was paced by
Josh DiCarlo (Amherstburg, Ont. / General Amherst) and
Tyler Hurtubise (Essex, Ont. / Essex District), both of which were tied-for-fourth.
"The Warriors got off to a rough start today," said head coach
Mike Horn. "As has been our habit lately, we got it together and finished very strong. We are going to do our best to get out of the gate a lot faster tomorrow. Great playing from
Josh DiCarlo and
Tyler Hurtubise, who both carded solid two-under par 70s. We are in pretty good shape going into the final day and will have to execute better than we did today. I'm counting on my upperclassman to make that happen tomorrow!"
"A huge shout out to baseball for coming out and supporting us today," added Horn. "It was great to see Coach (Aaron) Hepner, Coach (Ryan) Kelley and all the boys. A special thank you to Laura Smith for singing our national anthems today. She sang both the Canadian and US national anthem."
