SAGINAW, Mich. -- The Wayne State University men's golf team opened its 2024-25 campaign on Saturday at Saginaw Valley State's Al Watrous Invitational. Through 18 holes at Sawmill Golf Club, the Warriors' "B" squad is in second (290, +2) among the 14-team field while the "A" team sits in fifth place (297, +9).
"We had a tough day all around in our first go," said head coach
Mike Horn. "We had a few guys get it going early, but faded near the end. I think we learned a lot about the golf course and where we can attack, so tomorrow should be a much better day. Everybody played adequate, but we need more than that to compete at this level. W ith a good day tomorrow, we should put ourselves in a nice position."
