Women's Swimming Scores 13 Points On Day Three Of NCAA Championships

Vassilakos and Munoz both earn Second Team All-America recognition on Friday.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Wayne State University swimmers Barbara Munoz (Yumbo, Colombia) and Alli Vassilakos (Clarkston, Mich. [Carthage College]) both scored in the consolation finals of their events on Friday evening.

Vassilakos, a senior who was the No. 28-seed for the 500 free, was ranked ninth after the morning prelims, then improved her time in the finals by over a second to win the consolation finals and place ninth in a time of 4:52.15 and earn nine points in the team standings.

Munoz, a graduate student was seeded ninth after the prelims, placed 13th overall in the 200 fly by clocking in at 2:03.17 to earn four points in the team standings. 

Wayne State is tied-for-19th heading into the final day of competition on Saturday with 42 points.  Drury leads with 358 points and is followed by Nova Southeastern  (353), Colorado Mesa (284), Indianapolis (272), Lynn (174) and Tampa (165).
