The freshman saw success in the pool play portion of the senior event, collecting a 6-0 bout record while having a +16 touch differential.  Elsayed was seeded fifth, but due to 16 exemptions, the Warrior entered the direct elimination stage as the No. 21 seed in the round of 64.

Matched with No. 44-ranked Segeon Ma of Korea in the first round, Elsayed fell 14-13, finishing 35th out of 391 competitors.  Ma advanced to the semifinals where he lost to the eventual champion, Masaru Yamada.
