WSU Athletics Announces 2025 Volleyball Themes

DETROIT – The Wayne State University Department of Athletics has announced its themes for the 2025 volleyball season, which kicks off Friday, September 5 with the two-day Warrior Invitational.

In addition to hosting the Warrior Invitational (Sept. 5-6), WSU will also entertain GLIAC rivals Saginaw Valley State, Lake Superior State, Parkside, Roosevelt, Ferris State, Davenport, Grand Valley State and Purdue Northwest to round out the home portion of the schedule.

Volleyball fans can purchase season tickets for just $45. Individual game tickets are now on sale for chairback ($10 per match), general admission (bleacher - $5 per match), child (age 5-12 - $3 per match) and faculty/staff ($3 per match). Groups of 10 or more will receive a group discount of $3 per ticket. Special ticket pricing for the Warrior Invitational is also available.

Friday, Sept. 5 vs. Upper Iowa (2:30 p.m.) and Northwood (7 p.m.) - Wear your gold for WSU

Saturday, Sept. 6 vs. Cedarville (12:30 p.m.) and Winona State (5 p.m.) - TBD

Friday, Sept. 19 vs. Saginaw Valley State (7 p.m.) - High School Night (high school and club volleyball teams will be invited)

Saturday, Sept. 20 vs. Lake Superior State (4 p.m.) - Alumni Day/Kid's Day/Family Day (reconnect with alumni; WSU volleyball campers get in free with their camp t-shirt; post-match autograph session)

Friday, Oct. 10 vs. Parkside (7 p.m.) - Mental Health Awareness Night (Show your support for mental well-being and mental health awareness)

Saturday, Oct. 11 vs. Roosevelt (4 p.m.) - Pink Out (Wear pink to stand with those affected by breast cancer; pick up a commemorative sticker with proceeds benefiting breast cancer research)

Friday, Oct. 31 vs. Ferris State (7 p.m.) - "Spike or Treat" Night (Wear your best Halloween costume. There will be volleyball spikes AND treats!

Saturday, Nov. 1 vs. Davenport (4 p.m.) - Senior Day (We will show our appreciation to our volleyball seniors, and everyone who helped them through their Warrior journey)

Thursday, Nov. 13 vs. Grand Valley State (7 p.m.) - Pride Night (Stand with the LGBTQ+ community and help us celebrate inclusion and unity)

Friday, Nov. 14 vs. Purdue Northwest (7 p.m.) - Detroit Sports Night (Rep you favorite Detroit teams by wearing your jerseys and gear)
