CANTON, Ohio -- The Wayne State University men's golf team is in second place among a 12-team field after day one and 36 holes of Malone's Glenmoor Fall Invitational. Individually,
Andrew Daily (Brighton, Mich.) leads the tournament's 72 players thanks to a five-under 139 (70-69) through Monday's play.
"Could not be more proud of these young Warriors," said head coach
Mike Horn. "From Andrew (Daily) leading the tournament to Harrison's (Chapman) 66 in round two, what an outstanding day for a group of inexperienced players. We had four players making their collegiate debut today, everybody contributed and what a great foundation we have placed not only for this tournament, but for the fall and for the season. Really saw a lot of growth even within the 11 hours of competition today. I'm excited to see what we can do tomorrow in trying to catch Hillsdale."
Wayne State fired two 18-hole totals in the 60s, both of which came in round two, one from Daily (69) and the other by H. Chapman (66). That 66 by the redshirt junior is just one stroke off the program's 18-hole record set by Tyler LaSerra (2012) and
Max Leppelmeier (2022).
