Men's Golf Prepared for NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional

The field will play 54 holes over the course of three days at Ferris State's Katke Golf Course.

DETROIT -- The postseason continues for the Wayne State University men's golf squad, as the Warriors were selected to participate in the NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional for the 18th time since 2004.  WSU will compete from Thursday, May 7, through Saturday, May 9, in Big Rapids, Mich. at Ferris State's Katke Golf Course.  The team will be the ninth seed in the region.

Coach's Corner
"We are looking to have a breakout week this week," said head coach Mike Horn.  "The boys are really starting to play well.  Congratulations to Josh Lahner who was medalist yesterday at Plum Hollow in the US Open local qualifying.  He was the only player under par in the field of 100 players.  We had a number of scores under par today at practice and are looking to take that to the NCAA Super Regional starting on Thursday.  We are poised to break out and really show the rest of the region what we are capable of.  We've got a number of players that have won at this level and we've got a number of players who have experience playing Katke."

Tournament Format
The number of teams and individuals from non-qualifying teams at each super regional are as follows:
Atlantic and East: 20 teams; 8 individuals;
Central and Midwest: 20 teams; 8 individuals;
South and Southeast: 20 teams; 8 individuals; and
South Central and West: 20 teams; 8 individuals

At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional will advance to the finals, May 18–22 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The finals will be hosted by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
