ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Wayne State University men's golf team is right where it wants to be following day one of the season-opening Midwest/Central Regional Preview at The Meadows. The Warriors sit in first place among the 18-team field following 36 holes of play thanks to a seven-over 575 (283-292), three strokes better than the host Grand Valley State.

Jacob Palomares. Josh (Lahner) and Jack (Julian) both played really solidly as well and we got one good round out of Will (Pollack) and Luke (Maher) to contribute to the team. If we come out tomorrow and clean up our par five scoring, we're going to be very difficult to beat, but we've got to be better on the par fives going forward. Not only tomorrow, but the rest of this year. With all that said ,I'm very happy with our first day and this is an outstanding field, so to be doing well against a bunch of solid teams is very humbling and a remarkable first day.
Andrew Daily had a very solid round as the individual today as well, so all six guys got to be solid and ready to go first thing tomorrow as we battle the rain all day."
