GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The Wayne State University golf team tied for
12th place at the second Great Lakes Regional of the season this weekend. The Warriors shot 298 on Saturday and 306 on Sunday at Cherry Blossom, matching the University of Missouri-St. Louis with a team score of 604.
Finishing in a tie for second place was
Alex LaSerra (Jackson, Mich./Napoleon), who shot 71 each round and was one stroke behind medalist Trent Davison of Ferris State (71-70--141). Saginaw Valley State's Micah Skidmore also finished with a score of 142.
Austin Hill (Troy, Mich./Avondale) shot an even-par 72 in the opening round and tied for 35th overall (72-78--150).
Tyler Haksluoto (St. Clair Shores, Mich./South Lake) tied for 75th (80-75--155).
Rob Favaro (LaSalle, Ont./St. Thomas of Vilanova) tied for 103rd (77-82--159) and
Jack Mitroka (Riverview, Mich.) was two strokes behind in a tie for 108th (78-83--161).
Wayne State will compete at the third and final regional tournament next weekend at Purgatory in Noblesville, Ind.
