Women's Track Has Several Strong Performances At Jet's Pizza Invite

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Wayne State University women's indoor track and field squad concluded competition at the SVSU Jet's Pizza Invitational on Saturday.

TOP FINISHERS
Senior Aliyah McDonald (Kingston, Jamaica) placed second in the finals of the 60m hurdles (9.00), and then finished fourth in the finals of the 200m dash by clocking in at 25.42.

Junior Makayla Sumrall (Roseville, Mich.) placed second in the finals of the 60m dash (7.72).

Junior Mikayla Williams (St. Charles, Mich.) won the triple jump at a distance of 10.84m and tied-for-second in the high jump at 1.51m.

Freshman Emily Gordon (Northville, Mich.) finished third in the 800m run in a time of 2:17.73, which was the third-fastest time in program history and the best mark by a Warrior in nearly five years.

The 4x400m relay consisting of senior Yasmine Affes (Northville, Mich.), sophomore Abigail Dunn (Northville, Mich.), freshman Renae Kutcha (Jackson, Mich. / Lumen Christi) and freshman Makenzie Wellner (Menominee, Mich.) placed second in a time of 4:02.27.

Affes finished 10th in the 400m dash (1:00.77).

Freshman Robin Bresolin (LaSalle, Ont./ St. Thomas of Villanova) placed 13th in the 3K (11:02.87).

Junior Thailyia Christensen (Flushing, Mich.) was 11th in the mile (5:17.08).

Freshman Jasmine Correa (West Olive, Mich. / Holland West Ottawa) placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 10.98m.

Freshman Kynnedee Cowles (Detroit, Mich. / Renaissance) finished 17th in the mile (5:36.17).

Senior Ashley Defrain (Fort Gratiot, Mich. / Port Huron Northern) was 15th in the 3K (11:05.62).

Dunn placed 16th in the 400m dash (1:03.06).

Sophomore Emily Esker (Livonia, Mich. / Franklin) finished 11th in the 800m run (2:25.21).

Freshman Layla Martini (Casnovia, Mich. / Kent City) was 20th in the mile (5:52.09).

Freshman Kay-Lee McSwain (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Huron) placed sixth in the 60m hurdles (9.39).

Freshman Lexi Movsesian (Macomb, Mich. / Lutheran North) finished sixth in the high jump (1.36m).

Junior Katherine Ray (Novi, Mich.) was 10th in the 3K (10:54.01).

Freshman Parys Smith (Keego Harbor, Mich. / West Bloomfield) placed seventh in the 60m hurdles (9.66).

Senior Izzy Taylor (Three Rivers, Mich.) finished 13th in the shot put with a throw of 9.21m.

Sophomore Jillian Vera (Saugatuck, Mich.) was 18th in the 3K (12:00.04).
