ASHLAND, Ohio -- The winning continued for the 26th-ranked Wayne State University men's golf team on Sunday at the Ashland Spring Invitational. The Warriors won their sixth "A" Team event of 2024-25 with a three-round total of 854 (-10, 287-287-280), nine strokes better than No. 17 Missouri S&T in second place. Those same Miners outlasted WSU by four shots five days ago at the Findlay Spring Invite.
"What an outstanding performance for everybody," said head coach
Mike Horn. "I am almost speechless and am in awe on how the boys are playing. Congratulations to Josh on his second career win and to
Tyler Hurtubise for finishing third at four under. Consistent play from everybody, even the "B" Team, who had some really good individual scores as well. We will need a couple of days off to regroup, but we will be ready to go to Indianapolis and try to pick up win number seven."
As coach mentioned,
Josh DiCarlo (Amherstburg, Ont. / General Amherst) took home medalist honors for the second time in his career. This victory for the graduate student comes over three years after his first, the BrownGolf Intercollegiate on March 12, 2022. Fast forward to 2025 and DiCarlo fired a 208 (-8, 69-71-68), which tied his career low for 54 holes that he recorded twice before.
