AUGUSTA, Mich. -- Two of three rounds are in the books for the Wayne State University men's golf team as part of the Stroke Play Championship at the 2026 GLIAC Championships. Playing at Stoatin Brae Golf Club, the Warriors are fourth among the nine-team field after turning in a day-one score of 573 (+5, 288-285). Individually, the Warriors were paced by
Andrew Daily (Brighton, Mich.) who's part of the five-way tie-for-eighth.
"The Warriors did not get it going today," said head coach
Mike Horn. "We battled through multiple rain delays, but just couldn't get it going in a positive direction. With all that said, we are well within striking distance tomorrow. Nobody is going to catch the leaders, but we just need to be in the top two and we have to play our best tomorrow. Davenport played well today and there are a couple of teams right around us that are going to be hungry and we have to clean things up. We have to have the best day of our season tomorrow and that will give us a chance to play for the championship."
