PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. -- The Wayne State University men's golf team opened the spring portion of its schedule on Monday and finds itself right where it wants to be through 18 holes. Competing at Ohio Dominican's Pawleys Island Beach Bash, the Warriors are first among the 17-team field with a two-under 286.
Individually,
Harrison Chapman (Marshall, Mich.) and
Josh Lahner (Roselle, Ill. / Lake Park) are tied-for-first among the field of 118 players, each with a two-under 70.
"Definitely a very solid day for the Warriors," said head coach
Mike Horn. "Outstanding play by Harrison and Josh and a really solid overall day from the whole starting lineup. Including
Luke Maher, who was in the lineup for the first time. I am very proud of a couple of guys on how they battled back from a tough start, especially
Andrew Daily. After being three over early, he finished the day even par. We've got a big day tomorrow to try to finish this one off. We've got to be solid from the very get-go tomorrow and take advantage of our position after round one. Great job to coach
Chad Johnson on leading the boys to this solid start in the first round."
