Jeff Evans, who is in entering his 10th year at Wayne State, was promoted to assistant athletic director in January 2007. Evans oversees sports marketing, broadcasting, game promotions, corporate relations, ticket operations and the cheerleading program.
Wayne State University received five National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) awards for the 2007-08 school year. The Warriors won three Gold: Promotional/Schedule Poster-Football, Promotional/Schedule Poster-Olympic Sport (men[apos]s and women[apos]s hockey) and promotional t-shirt design. Wayne State earned a Silver for student promotion and a Bronze for Promotional/Schedule Poster-Basketball. The 2008-09 basketball poster was fifth in the nation by CoSIDA.
Evans came to Wayne State from the Detroit Tigers where he served as an assistant treasurer in the front office for six years. His duties with the Tigers included management of game day sellers, account balancing and financial reporting. Evans was also given the task of relocating all of the former Tiger Stadium season ticket holders into their new home, Comerica Park. Evans is still active with the Tigers assisting them in game day ticket operations.
Prior to working with the Tigers, Evans was the Player Programs Coordinator for the Detroit Pistons. His responsibilities included directing the Pistons/Panasonic Speakers Bureau, youth basketball clinics and the NBA [quote]Stay in School[quote] Program.
As a former student-athlete, Evans received the Andy Simons Memorial Sports Leadership Scholarship. Evans received a Bachelor of Applied Arts and a Master[apos]s Degree from Central Michigan University and was certified as a Sports Marketing Specialist from the University of Kentucky Gatton School of Business.
Evans is a contributing member of WSU[apos]s Special Events and Services Coordinating Council, Welcome Back Week Committee, Homecoming Committee and the University Activities Committee.
He is a member of NACMA, and a youth sports coach in Grosse Pointe Woods where he resides. He also serves on the Board of Directors for The Children[apos]s Center and the Grosse Pointe Red Barons Football Club.
