Edward B. Viverette II was a four-year football letterwinner (2010-13), who started 37 games and was a three-time All-GLIAC honoree.
Viverette concluded his collegiate career first in both forced fumbles (9) and quarterback hurries (13) in program history, while ranking tied-for-ninth in tackles (295) and 10th in assisted tackles (147). Â
He was seventh in tackles for loss (36.5 / 31 solo, 11 assisted), while his 176 tackle for loss yards was sixth. Â In addition, his 18.0 sacks (16 solo, 4 assisted) was tied-for-eighth, while his 130 sack yards was fourth in school history.
After starting four games as a redshirt freshman in 2010, Viverette made 13 starts in 2011 to earn Second Team All-GLIAC recognition. Â He led WSU with 15.5 tackles for loss, was second with 7.5 sacks and finished third with 83 tackles. Â
In the 2011 national championship game, Viverette totaled nine tackles, including a half-tackle for loss along with a pass break-up. Â He was selected WSU's Defensive Player of the Week for the Regional Championship game victory at Minnesota Duluth after recording nine tackles, including three first half sacks.
In his junior campaign, Viverette was among the GLIAC leaders in forced fumbles (4), tackles (100), tackles per game (10.0) and solo tackles (50). Â He was part of nine tackles for loss (7 solo, 4 assisted) in earning All-GLIAC Second Team recognition. Â A team captain in 2012, Viverette was also honored as WSU's Defensive Most Valuable Player.
As a senior in 2013, Viverette was voted to the All-GLIAC First Team. Â In addition, he was selected WSU's Defensive MVP for a second consecutive season, while also being named as the recipient of the Ron Solack Memorial "#35" Award.
A team captain for a second straight year, Viverette started all 10 games played and led the squad in solo tackles (44), assisted tackles (48), total tackles (92), tackles for loss (12 / 10 solo, 4 assisted), sacks (7 / 6 solo, 2 assisted), quarterback hurries (5) and forced fumbles (3), while tying for the team lead with two interceptions.
He garnered GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors as well as D2Football.com National Defensive Player of the Week recognition after totaling nine tackles against Ashland, including 3.5 sacks, along with a forced fumble, a 42-yard fumble return for his first career touchdown and two quarterback hurries in WSU's 34-22 victory over the 21st-ranked Eagles.
A native of Southfield, Mich. (Brother Rice High School), Viverette earned his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.
