Jodi Young was a two-time basketball letterwinner (2002-2004) at Wayne State University.
She became just the second women’s basketball player to earn All-America honors when both Division II Bulletin and Daktronics, Inc. named her to the Honorable Mention teams in 2004.
Young started all 56 games for the Green and Gold, scoring 1,097 points after transferring from Oakland University.
Her 19.6 points per game average is still a school record as is her 85.7 free throw percentage (197-230).
A two-time GLIAC South Division First Team selection, Young holds the top two WSU single-season marks in three-pointers made at 74 (2003-04) and 72 (2002-03), and ranks second in career three-point percentage at 37.3 (146-391).
The 2003 squad is the only team in program history to advance to the NCAA tournament.
After graduating from WSU with a bachelor’s degree in social work, she worked at Lifetime Fitness and is presently a family service worker for The Guidance Center Head Start in Romulus.
She is engaged to be married this summer and is still very active playing basketball in various recreation leagues.
