Neil Hick, a four-year Wayne State fencing letterwinner (1980-83), has been selected for induction into the WSU Athletic Hall of Fame. Hick, a native of Australia, received an NCAA post-graduate scholarship and completed his master's in education in 1984. The 1982 NCAA individual national champion in men's sabre, Hick was a member of three national championship teams in 1980-82-83. In his freshman season he compiled a 27-6 record and was the Great Lakes Region individual sabre champion for the first of three consecutive seasons. In his national championship year, Hick recorded a 30-1 mark, and followed that with another 30 victories in 1982-83. A 1982 WSU graduate with a degree in education, Hick is currently coaching fencing in addition to teaching at Kardinia International College. He was the manager of the Australian team from 2000 until 2004 and has coached at both junior and senior World Titles.
