Iler also threw the javelin, discus, and shot put for the track team. Besides his collegiate track competition, Iler also participated in the City of Detroit Athletic Organization track and field program where he won numerous medals of honor. A native Detroiter, Iler was born in 1900. He received his B.S. in Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1924 and went on to work for the Michigan Bell Company where he served as a General Plant Supervisor.
